Who are you really creating for?

I received a message that I couldn’t get out of my head. Maybe it was a Tweet. Maybe the headline for an email trying to sell me something. I can’t remember.
But I’ve been thinking about it ever since.
Who do you create for?
Who do I create for, really? I started a list.
Myself.
My kids.
My husband.
The rest of my family.
My agent.
My editor.
My publisher.
My readers.
My students.
Holy crap. That is a lot of people counting on me to produce something worth while.
