Understanding (and Mastering) Author Voice
There are as many ways to tell a story as there are storytellers.

Voice is one of those slippery things that every writer knows they need to have — but because it’s hard to define, no one can tell you how to go out and get it.
I can tell you how to improve your grammar, I can point you toward better dialogue or sentence structure or stronger verbs.
Those are all concrete things that any third grader can help you with.
But voice is different.
I can try to tell you what it is, but it’s harder to tell you how to go out and get it. Let’s give it a try, though.
