Good morning!
It’s Sunday, which means it’s reset day. Take a few minutes and reset yourself for the upcoming week with me. That just means thinking back on the last week and doing things today that will get you ready for the upcoming week.
Last Week’s Review
You might have noticed I didn’t write a reset post last week. I actually had a really crazy, crazy week. Like—bizarrely crazy. And I didn’t reset at all.
My husband spent the weekend in the hospital. He had an injury on his leg that turned into cellulitis. And antibiotics didn’t clear it up. So, two nights in the hospital for IV antibiotics. Thankfully, there was no further infection or MRSA or sepsis.
And then, the day he came home, someone hacked my Facebook account and it was deactivated. I mean, it was shut down hard. Permanently, no chance for appeal. BUT, the hacker was running ads on the account that Facebook still wanted me to pay for.
So, I spent all day on Sunday and Monday closing down bank accounts and credit cards, to keep that from happening. And then filing claims, because it did actually happen anyway.
And dealing with the kind of surreal feeling of not having a Facebook account for the first time in twenty years. I mean, I started a new one right away. I had to, because so much of Ninja Writers is run through there. But, it was still weird and oddly emotional.
So, I didn’t reset. And I regret it. My week suffered because of it. So, note to self—when you’re having a hard week, you need the reset even more.
This week, I’ve been tackling turning a spare bedroom that’s been storage for the last six months into a library/wardrobe/studio for me. It’s a massive job, but I’m having a lot of fun with it. It’s occurred to me that this will be a dopamine room.
A dopamine room is basically a space designed to make you feel good.
Ruby was home for the weekend, which was really nice. We went to the local art gallery for an opening of a show featuring one of her college art teachers.
I’m working on a crochet project that requires 64 granny squares. I crocheted 35 of them this week. (!!)
January Review
I set a couple of challenges for myself in January.
The first was to eat a vegan diet for the month. We did it. And, you know what? It wasn’t awful. It was actually very satisfying. And going dairy-free was a revelation. I haven’t had a stomach ache for a whole month—for the first time in my life.
I knew I was lactose intolerant. Kevin didn’t. But he also feels better than he has in twenty years. He also lost almost twenty pounds. (I lost twelve, although that’s not my aim. I just want to feel better.)
We’re adding in eggs and fish this month and we’ll see how we feel with that.
The second was to do a small DIY project every week. I’ve kept up with that. And in fact, I’ve gone above and beyond. Because doing the little things has inspired me to do bigger things.
The week four project was to switch a wooden clothes rack that held my plant supplies in my dining room for smaller, less bulky racks. And that led to a whole dining room makeover.

I’m not writing as much as I want to. I’m doing my ten minutes, of course. But not much more. In February, I’d like to give more time to my own writing.
This Week’s Reset
Since I didn’t reset at all last week, I didn’t reset for the month of February either. Which really sucks. It’s only the fourth though, and I’m going to do some of that, anyway, today.
Here’s what’s on my agenda:
Set up my planners and notebooks for next week.
Make my plans for February.
Work on my dopamine room. I’d like to get it useable this week.
Grocery shop.
Get my workspace refreshed for the new week.
That’s it for me. How will you reset your week today? Sometimes just writing it down makes it real enough to actually happen.
Love,
Shaunta
Inspired to get up and handle my sh-- stuff. Thank you.
